Pepe le Pew said...: yeah, and without any social programs, these people are put in the streets until they do something stupid and end up in jail.

Two years ago this semi-homeless bipolar guy was released without meds he couldn't afford. He slit the throat of a girl in the bar next to my house and just walked home like nothing had happened until the cops came to pick him up.

I haven't followed the case but he'll likely been thrown in jail, presumably to punish him for being crazy.
