"YOU LIE!" and The Atlantic

This doesn't even rank up there with a mouse fart when contrasted with how the Brits do things in the House of Commons and Lords.

I'm really of two minds on this. I didn't like the sound of it and I respond to the idea that the cheapening of public discourse is a real disaster.

Still, Obama himself was throwing heavy bullshit around in addition to this "call you out" goddam phrase that sounds like he got it from Van Jones...

Anyway, I guess Taranto (and some on the page you link, Goldberg particularly) have it about right.

Obama and Wilson were both asses, but Wilson apologized.

Taranto: At the point when he stated that illegal aliens would not be covered--a highly dubious claim, as we noted last month--someone in the audience heckled him: "You lie!"

He's right. Wilson has the ameliorating circumstance that he was telling the truth and Obama was actually lying.
