If it's "someone" (i.e., a set of cardinality 1), why refer to that someone as "they" (meaning a set of cardinality at least 2)? Brain crashed right there and then, could not process the rest of the article.
American, schmamerican. Pure logic is independent of the language used to express it. And, in any language known to man, 1 is not greater than 1. Even Palin should know that. No?
