Rot redesigns academia
Based on his incisive observations: Professors were no longer required to go to conferences where they spend considerable state money. Most professors who go to these conferences get drunk, go to topless bars, or commit adultery with other professors.

What verb would you use? Perform? Ask the committee.

Standard Rotter wet dream: In my dream the liberals were all gone and I had to rebuild the university from the ground up. Before I began hiring, I made this major announcement: “Faculty will have to teach four classes a semester, instead of just three. This will allow us to cut back on the number of adjunct faculty we hire. It will also mean that faculty can teach instead of doing research that is absolutely useless at best and harmful to society at worst.”
This guy's perspective is particular to his field. I don't think anyone assesses the work in departments of physics to be bullshit (except for string theory).
He's in criminology and so has to listen to that college's idiots whine about socio-linguistic constructs and dead white men.

I have, by the way, while you were gallivanting around in Europe drinking champagne and trying to make diagrams commute or something...

And yes, I know--almost all these guys writing about academia (including VDH himself) look at it from the artsy-fartsy perspective. It's a given.
I think I wrote the deepest math I have ever back then and when my schedule was even worse. It was worse when I was working at AA's current POE.
Since then, I have mostly worked out little chickenshit improvements and applications of the ideas I had then. I need a new hat.
Nothing concentrates the mind like the salt mines.
You could prove the RH just to get outta there.
