The Obama administration also behaves as if the weight of the United States in world affairs is approximately the same as that of Switzerland. We await developments. We urge caution, even restraint. We hope for the formation of an international consensus.
The Swiss are much better at this game--they've been doing it for centuries, and they prosper. (BTW, have you noticed that the USD is now worth only about 0.92 Swiss Francs? I remember going to Swissie in the mid-eighties, when it was worth around 2.40...) On the other hand, we suck at this game, which is not what a superpower worth its salt should be doing, anyhow.
