... to serve the Democrats well.
Hey, Pepe was pining for some of that Lenin style "Democrat Centralism", and now that PPs won, what PP wants PP gets.

The Australian Fires and Brother Arson

A 100 dead is a lot for wildfires in such a sparsely populated nation. It takes men to aim so precisely over a wide area, and... sure enough.
Too bad Australia doesn't have the death penalty.

Orwell's Londonians?
This story is a little dated (well, for a current events rant blog), but just in case, I posted it. Check out how Londoners didn't respond to five little inches of snow. What's that in centimeters?

Hope, change, hope, change...

“He is a community organizer like Jesus was,” said Susan Sarandon, “and now we’re a community and he can organize us.” Like a broken record, Pepe's Ship of State (or is it the Ship of Fools?) sails on, while the wingnuts bark. Did I mix metaphors?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
"To quote President Obama, 'I screwed up.' " Mais non, mais non, you're doin' a heckuva job.
Iran's Civilian ICBM and A-bomb Industries
Teheran sets up the terms for Obama's Canossa. Also, hilariously, a "satellite" is no weapon!
If McCain had won would we be done with this bitch already?
Pepe, if you'd known you would have voted the straight republican ticket, no? OK, how about the log canin republican ticket?
What part of nyet don't you understand, Obama?
The selling point that might have appealed to moderates (like Kaus, e.g.) was that electing Obama would make the US more popular abroad than "re"electing McCain. But it was all wrong. For all the good will that could have come from a muslim country that was never particularly antagonistic, money talks and bullshit walks. Russia provided the money to Kyrgyzstan while Obama offered them the same as to us, bullshit.

Another one bites the dust?
LBJ was probably right about the presidency being the loneliest job in the world, but I bet it's gonna be even lonelier for Obambi with all his appointees in the IRS' secret prisons in Cuba.
How will Obama find someone to the left of her?
Chief Justice Jeremiah Wright? Ayers? Saul Alinsky? Solis? The mind reels with all the despicable shits from UChicago that Obama must be tight with. IT'S ALL BUSH'S FAULT!
Paradise mullah
Since 2001 Nami had been issuing special electronic money which he referred to as "Enten", a combination of the Japanese currency name, yen, and the Japanese word for "Paradise" to investors who paid at least ¥100,000 (£770). Enten is a virtual currency which Nami claims will become legal tender in a post-recession existence by which time he will have become "world famous". Investors were promised 36% annual returns. "Enten" were generated through his customers' mobile phones. In February 2007, dividends were distributed in Enten, rather than in cash. Buy, Mr Rot, buy!!
A 70-year-old who woman blamed herself for the loss of two million yen, said: "I had fun and a lively life... I was stupid. It's my fault as I was greedy". You don't say. Life is a bitch.

Intellectual Suicide of Our West
The greatest threat to Western Civilization is simultaneously external and internal. The threat comes from individuals who seek to ban, burn or destroy a controversial idea rather than engage intellectually with it (think, for example, about the great library of Alexandria that was burned to the ground some centuries ago). Today there is plenty of understandable concern over Islam Militant. But there should also be concern when religions within our civilization -- Catholics and Protestants included -- attempt to ban, burn or destroy literature and scientific thought as well. What ever happened to coming up with intellectual arguments against stuff one disagrees with? How are we to hone our wits?
A professor friend of mine was recently told by an administrator at a religious and accredited university that she/he better watch out in assigning an essay or book by Carl Sagan. He/she assigned Sagan to encourage critical thinking, and help students hone their wits. A GOP-connected administrator heard that Sagan had been introduced, and has since taken up a campaign against this professor, calling (from what I understand) for his/her termination. And let it be known that if I heard about a professor assigning St. Thomas Aquinas to his/her students in a strictly secular state university, and some DNC administrator attempted to get this professor fired, I would be equally pissed.
So the West continues its attempts to commit suicide, a sort of light variation on this.

The Heim lick maneuver
Quite the synergy here, converting to Islam, but isn't Tarek Hussein Farid president of the United States? I'm so confused.

Abject failure
Mr Rot is pulling for the SEC, saying what a great job they did. I say, they should be all fired en masse for gross incompetence, dereliction of duty, and malpractice, and replaced by (hopefully) competent people. Are there still such floating around?
