Oooooo......She did to her husband what she wouldn't let him do to her? With French wives like that no wonder the D of PP seeks safe haven in tranquil bucolic Nawlins

Mr Sarkozy infuriated his opponents and confounded the US by offering the job of foreign minister to Hubert Vedrine, a Socialist veteran with anti-Washington credentials. Mr Vedrine, 59, a former senior aide to the late president Francois Mitterrand who served as foreign minister from 1997 to 2002, was the architect of a doctrine for containing what he called the abusive "steamroller" of US power. His views on "the hyperpower" - the term he coined in the 1990s - would appear to conflict with Mr Sarkozy's pro-Atlantic views.
Aahhh, the French. Par for the course. Keep it up, Sarko. What next? Daniel Cohn-Bendit at Interior? Laurent Fabius at Defense? A great job!
Contrarily to DCB & the hapless fafa, and all ideology aside, vedrine made a reputation for being very competent under the mitterand administration during which competence wasn't the general rule. in addition, the opening to the left shows sarko isn't the blind nutcase many feared we might be landing. Going outside party affiliation and ideology and reaching on the other side of the aisle? Now that's progressive.
Depends on whether who he's reachng across to is progressive or just another eurocommie getting payola interest from Brezhnev.
Contrast that with a highly ideological administration that insists on prayer before cabinet meetings and rewards allegiance over competence.
