I'll spell out better: I believe it to be a running misconception among the left that Christians are all of the idiot Falwell variety and conservatives are all either in substantial agreement or at least willing to pay lip service to those Christians. LGF is a far-right blog (there are plenty Christians (even a few creationists) among the members) and its readers have shown (in my opinion) remarkable pragmatism in overwhelmingly choosing Giuliani over opponents far more in line with the religious mentality. My joke was that perhaps those dumbass rightwingers really like Giuliani because his name reminds them of a bygone heartthrob from Austria.
Diggin, diggin, JJ. Maybe they just remember his stance on 9/11, or his cleaning up NY -- a feat Sarko can only dream of, when musing about spraying car-burning French youths with Karcher hoses.
At any rate, I haven't paid attention to these debates, it's too early in the season. Wake me up in January.
