VDH was on fire in the early days of the wot, peaking around 2003. After a while, he kind of got lost, not much else to say. Happens to the best (even to Steyn for periods of time). But it seems to me that VDH has been drifting now for at least a couple of years. No?
I think he's been important since 2003. I meant over the recent Babylonian period. His shillng his book on the Peloponnesian War in his articles had been off-putting I do recall. I'll look around one of these.
Shilling: yep, I know what you mean. Don't forget, he's a prof, out there in Napa Valley, he needs to make a buck, after all. Still. At any rate, he's a smart guy. But I won't buy his books. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

All that talk of Mr. Maverick is BS -- McCain is now the Establishment guy. I usually prefer the underdog.
VDH also pulls for McCain. But VDH has been slippin' for a long time now...
Sure he's an establishment guy. Been a senator forever. What does Steyn say about them? They have entourages like Saudi princes...
WHy do you think VDH has been slipping? I haven't followed in a while.
