Mitt for Veep!

Romney has allies in the Bush wing of the Republican party. President Bush favors him as McCain's veep. Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, preferred Romney over McCain in the primaries, but never endorsed him publicly. Karl Rove, the president's political strategist, has hinted that he considers Romney to be McCain's best running mate. Powww! Counterpoint: Kristol. Ergh!

Dan Quayle II? How is this guy going to help campaign? Usually the VP candidate goes and says the negative stuff so the pres cand can look presidential and not get his nails dirty.
Romney will call Obama an unattractive percentage rate of return and all the worshippers will laugh like crazy.
Hope not. Rove is no genius if he does this.
Imagine A I Pelosi encouraging the Repubs to go negative on something and having only Romney to do it with!
I'm moving to the UK. The archbishop of Canterbury has more nuts than this Disney reject.

For me it's Giuliani or Lieberman. Both are political trouble for the guy that craps on the Christians, though. I guess Romney is not that bad compared to the others in this guy's list. Still, Romney can carry Michigan, Utah, Colorado,...
Maybe not bad.

Leaving aside all the rest, I'm thinkink of Romney as shoring up McCain's weakest spot, vz, the economy. If indeed the Iraq War fades as an issue, it's gonna be "it's the economy, stupid" all over again. And then McCain will be like a deer caught in the headlights -- that's what happened to him in a debate with Ron Paul. Romney can bring some needed credibility on that front -- though also some risks, as Barney says (Hillobama will portray him in class warfare terms).

At any rate -- the contrast with Quayle is stark: Q was an idiot 1sr term senator, R served as gov (executive exp that McC lacks), and he's not an idiot.

As for states, Utah is in the bag, but Colorado is a toss-up: R could well swing it. And if R can help McC carry Michigan (and perhaps give it a shot in Ohio), it makes even more sense, indeed. I don't see how McC can win without Ohio or Michigan -- just do the math.

For me, it's the huckster. I think he should elevate the debate by discussing the benefits of relying on miracles vs boring & irrelevant mathematical concepts starting at the elementary school level, and obsessing about how to balance abstinence with the perils of masturbation.
