Blinded by hate, Tecs pulls for Boxer this time.

Shocka!

Good for McCain -- he still can pull the old warhorse persona when he wants to, and hats off for that. But of course, he went to sleep when it really counted -- all with der Rotter's blessing. And that was inexcusable, no matter how you slice or dice it, and no matter whether he (haltingly) tries to redeem himself now and then.

It's not a question of "hate" -- it's a question of fairly apportioning praise or blame, as the case may be. Not always easy to do, but at least I try, with some measure of success, if I can toot my own horn. To wit, look at the tab. The tab.

I can't blame McCain for losing. There's no way that the electorate, so stupid as to elect the asshole we have now, would have voted for McCain or anyone reasonable.

Calling Obama "Osama" would not have helped.

I can't blame McCain for losing. A typical cop-out. Then blame who? Bush?

Calling Obama "Osama" would not have helped. Typical red-herring/Mr Straman repartee. McCain was slightly ahead at the beginning of September. He imploded after his totally inane reaction after Lehman Brothers went belly up, exposing his obvious weaknesses (especially when it comes to economics and finance), that I had long been warning about, and which you had consistently pooh-poohed and minimized (and still do, to this day).

It's a bit like Obama, who'll never admit he screwed up with the stimulus bill, and keeps blaming others, or saying it was a lack of PR, etc. Anything but recognize where he went wrong, and try to correct, at least to some extent (though it's awfully late for that).

Lehman croaking turned the election. There was nothing anyone could do about it after then.

You said it yourself.

Tecumseh said...

Yes, it was almost impossible to turn the election after that. But that doesn't mean Mac could not have at least tried, instead of making a total fool of himself, and contributing to the rout in the congressional races. (Which, incidentally, is what made Obamacare & stimulus possible.)

Stop diggin', Herr Rot. You'll never make a convincing case that Mac gave it all he got during the campaign, or that he was the best candidate the GOP could have put forward in 2008. You know it, and I know you know it.

I can't think of anyone better, even with hindsight.

Well, that's a sad testament as to how weak the GOP field was in 2008 -- the weakest I ever seen it, with the possible exception of 1996. My hunch is that the field will be much better (and much fresher) in 2012. At least, I hope so.

I don't like anyone but Christie and he's too young.

Tecumseh said...

Also, too fat to play well on a national scale. BTW, Christie supported Castle against O'Donnell in the primaries. Planet Rot conflicted, yet again?

Meghan McCain is dumb as a post. (Her father, by comparison, is a rocket scientist.) In this segment, the old bull (George Will) just smacks her inanities. Even the standard pinko MSM types sound more logical than the chip off the old block.
