Wikiscandal

Next, you'll tell me that those pictures of the hot babes in my area aren't for real. Conspiracy theory hack wackos!
Here, a guy has fun comparing Wikipedia to Seymour Hersh. What fun!

Wikipedia is a pet peeve of mine, as you know. We've talked about this. The reason you go to an encyclopedia it to get something from someone who certainly knows more about a subject than you do. At Wiki, that's never sure and often the writer of the articles is deliberately misleading or incompetent. With very few exception that has been the case in my serious searches ending at Wiki.
What's worse is that now the net is getting swamped with stupid articles from Wikipedia because they're given away free, I guess. They sure ought to be free! So if you find an article in answers.com, for example, it is a verbatim, unchecked, and frequently idiotic article from Wikipedia.
IMO, the project is turning the web into a sewer of disinformation by providing free toilets to everyone and now redistributing the 'proceeds' to the rest of the net.

Yes JJ, I agree: quality control is absent. That damn wiki still has to be reckoned with.
