A very pretty girl.....Unfortunately, her mind was cabbage.
There is always a new reason, it seems, to waste life.

is there anyway that we can pin this on the islamists?

Absolutely.
If France was free of Islamist influence then Cartesian Rationalism would still rule its governing culture.
If CR ruled France's governing culture, Francophonic wannabe's in the States would seek to possess CR.
If Francophonic wannabe's sought to possess CR, then their professional lackeys in artistic circles would feel obligated to follow suit and seek to possess CR.
If their professional lackeys in artistic circles sought to possess CR then they would strive for lucid, unmuddled minds.
If these professional lackeys strove for lucid, unmuddled minds, then their teaching of art students would strive for lucid and unmuddled student minds.
If the teaching of art students strove for lucid and unmuddled minds, then with a significance at the 99% level the mean of the sample of minds of the students would be incompatible with the null hypothesis [that the average of lucidity was less than or equal to what came before this teaching]. Thus we can reject the null and accept the alternative hypothesis of now more lucid, less muddled minds, on average, in the population of art students.
If [this conclusion], then the probability a member of this population, drawn at random, will off itself as a consequence of unlucid, muddled, minding, is reduced.
The poor gal is a member of this population drawn at random.
Thus, If France was free of Islamist influence then the probability she would off herself as a consequence of a muddled mind is reduced.
But France is not free of Islamist influence, so, alas, no reducing effect on the probability is implied.
Thus we pin the charge on Islamists of not having done their part in reducing that dastart probability.

Not exactly up to the usual high standards of death by blow job, Pepe, but it'll have ta do for you to suck your pleasures.

I was just thinkin of Darwin Award alert?

This is just another sample of how Dan Brown (and other rubbish such as Harry Potter) is bringing down Western Civilization. We can only hope that time will rub it down, and out.

Note: I'm against Dan Brown and Harry Potter only because the Western Literary Canon should always be defended.

Speaking of that, there's a good Shakespeare review in the April/2007 Harper's.

Ah, those blue eyes! What a terrible waste. Dan Brown should be hung by his thumbs. Why, oh why, do people read that crock?

Speaking of Reviews, the moribund "Peasant Eye" blog has been revived as a repository for reviews, and related comments, on movies, books, shows, sporting events, etc....If any of you on occasion wish to post your own review of any of these, just tell me and I'll add you as a contributor. MFT has already done so. FCP is dear to our loose cannon hearts, but if you ever wish to write down a clear and interesting evaluation of some work PE is open to you.

JJ said he doesn't even watch (or go to) movies anymore.

The Peasant Eye looks like a good set up so far. I might have something on Teddy Roosevelt's "Hunting Trips of a Ranchman" (1885) at some point. Not for a while, though.

I've never read a Harry Potter book yet. I heard that neo-Evangelical groups were burning them in the American South West, and the Jesus Camp lady from around these parts condemns them as well. I agree with their action, but not with the thought-process leading up to it.

It kind of reminds me of sauntering over to an ACLU Banned Books display a couple years ago. I asked what they were up to. They told me they wanted to make us aware of all the books that have been banned or burned throughout history. I told them there is some real garbage out there, and maybe burning certain types of books isn't such a bad thing (Mary Higgins Clark, Clive Cussler, Ron Hubbard, or any other grocery store novel/religion etc). I don't think the ACLU and I were on the same page that day.
