Man, I miss europe where no one would get vapors over this.
I am skeptical that anyone would bite though, but watch the video & see for yourself.

Insensitivity
Republicans characterised the trip as insensitive and wasteful against the backdrop of US car giant General Motors preparing for an expected bankruptcy.
That's right! Until all the world problems have been solved, your only form of entertainment should be to spit watermelon seeds at a dartboard in the white house backyard, boy.

the next generation of conservatives will see this exactly the same way as you boys see interracial marriage today.

A Falsifiable Prediction from Debka
A few years ago ROT got all het up by Debka's miserable track record in the "Where In the World is Bin Laden" game; deemed their methods unsound, their motives suspect. In truth, the Bin Laden sweepstakes was very embarassing for Debka, or should have been. Yet, over the intervening years, I've found Debka's predictions or reports to be generally sound--particularly if it was to do with events which they considered to be related to Israel's security. In any case, here they make a firm prediction as to what Da One's administration will "do' about The Radiant Ronery. A nice falsifiable prediction which events in the next few months should settle. Will be interesting to see what the results of this experiment will be.

Sublime Pepean logic hard at work
To drive home her point, Judge Sotomayor triumphantly cited Bartlett's performance during a courtroom demonstration of her reading skills. "Plaintiff read haltingly and laboriously, whispering and sounding out some words more than once under her breath before she spoke them aloud," the judge recalled. "She made one word identification error, reading the word 'indicted' as 'indicated.'" Aha! That's worth a lifetime tenure with all the perks on Planet Pepe.

Pepe's IM Buds Pin the Tail on Their Donkey
“Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war,” the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeni wrote back in 1942. “Those [who say this] are witless. Those who study jihad will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world.”
But those were just words, just Pepean poseur, right Le Pew?

Tecs Gibbs and credentialism
“A lot of people in the last couple of days…they've mentioned ‘intellect,” Gibbs said. “I'm not sure what number they graduated in their class at Princeton, but my sense is it's not second.” Latino activists were up in arms over what one called “innuendo” challenging the smarts of Sotomayor, who graduated with highest honors from Princeton and was editor of the law review at Yale Law School.
Hey! That's enough for Tecs! Has she got a paper in Inventiones too? Tecs would really be ululating then...
Obscurantism as a Way of Dhimmi. Pauvre France.
The New York Times reported last week that "in the two and a half weeks since 27 people went on trial [in Paris] for the brutal 2006 kidnapping, torture and killing of a young Jewish man, little has filtered out about the proceedings." Worse still, the little that has emerged indicates that French government and law enforcement have done everything in their power to obscure the Islamic Jew-hatred that led these Muslims to commit this crime.

The 1960s. Another Pepean Revealed as Scum of the Red Vichy Reich
Of Course. AmeriSoc and The Party are The One.
As the the New Socialism subsumes more and more of the nation under its command, expect more and more of the "economic" decisions to follow Party directives. It is something anyone who has seen Chicago "function" the last half century would be crystal clear on. As for the Kulaks and other wreckers, like that Republican autodealer whose letter is in the first comment, how do you like D'em apples?
A deeper question than Pepe's
OK, so Pepe asks if a chick avec bite can be cute. I say no unequivocally. But, how about this? The French are scared to death of offending the tiniest hair of the tiniest raghead, but they make glorious fun of stupid broads. This counts for something. Really, no?

A Versaillist pinko for all ages
Well before Mussolini, still a revolutionary socialist in the early twentieth century, and at roughly the same time as Lenin, Wells—in the book that he called the “keystone to the main arch of my work”—gave up not only on democracy but on organized labor as a transformative force. All three men rejected what might be described as social democracy, that is, the attempt to use political means to redress the inadequacies of capitalism. Instead, each proposed a new class, a vanguard to carry forward a postcapitalist social order.

Yeah, Obama has been criminally gutless in the last few months on this sort of dreck. But Bush II was gutless for 8 years on the same issue, as was the Ubergutless Bill Clinton. Near 20 years of irresponsibility and ostrichism on this issue. Now, Kaboom. Bet Japan is thinking of going Nuclear in no time flat.
Of course, Obama [as Bush II came to, by the end] are betting Israel's life, and the ultimate wellbeing of the West, on the kindness of the Radioactive Iranian Mullahs; and their expansionist ideological drive makes The Ronery One look like a chihuahua before a rottweiler.

A Tenner List, Ad Memoriam
Ok, they surely meant to say "American made War movies". But still, some odd choices. Setting aside their ordering, the first four they mention do deserve to be in the top 10. The last three are a joke. Those in the middle, ok, sort of.
My top 10 for "american made ones", no order intended: Blackhawk Down, Paths of Glory, Patton, Saving Private Ryan, Hamburger Hill, We Were Soldiers [Once, and Young], Apocalypse Now, The Longest Day, The Thin Red Line, Memphis Belle.
With close "honorable mention" to Deerhunter, Empire of the Sun, Catch 22, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Sand Pebbles, Cross of Iron.
Very tempted to include The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly in the top 10. But I suppose it isn't usually considered to be a warmovie....
So, again with the restriction to Yankee made flicks, whaddya guys think?

Joys of Pepean health care
This means the oft-repeated promise that “if you are happy with your current insurance, you can keep it” is untrue. Millions of Americans who are currently satisfied with their coverage will have to give it up and purchase the insurance the government wants them to have, even if the new insurance is more expensive or covers benefits the buyer does not want. And Pepe will snicker, gleefully.
It is estimated that privately insured patients pay $89 billion annually in additional insurance costs because of cost-shifting from government programs. If the new public option would have similar reimbursement policies, it would result in additional cost-shifting of as much as $36.4 billion annually. Such cost-shifting would force insurers to raise their premiums, making them even less competitive with the taxpayer-subsidized public plan. Lewin Associates estimates that as many as 118.5 million Americans, nearly two out of every three people with insurance, would shift to the government program. The result would be a death spiral for private insurance. That's the whole idea. Nationalizing the health industry is a basic Socialist tenet.

Allan Bloom on Nietzsche
I came across these Allan Bloom lectures (presumably recorded during one of his U of Chicago lectures in 1983) after a close friend introduced me to his, The Closing of the American Mind. These interviews, in turn, were located by another friend, a professor of communications and rhetoric who professes his trade on the high Plains, and who originally hails from Pittsburgh.
The Bloom audio interviews are punctuated by a couple segments of silence, but at least you're ready for them now. It's nice to have on when one is, say, framing photos and paintings in New Orleans, or transitioning their offices from Spring to Summer term in Boston, or on the outskirts of Boston, or looking out the window and watching tumbleweeds roll across the southern Plains of Texas.
Lecture segments 2, 3, 4 and 5 are below.

A paean to Pepean health care
More: The insurance that the 48 million would be required to purchase would lump healthy people in with the very ill and require them to be charged the same rate as a person already consuming $100,000 of medical care per day.
If you are an illegal alien (9.3 million of the 48 million uninsured are not U.S. nationals), the government — meaning the taxpayers — will probably pay for your insurance under the final bill. But if you are middle-income, the government will have effectively imposed on you a $13,000 health-care tax — in large part, to pay for other people’s care.
Of course: that's the pinko way. By definition.

With a quirky contrariness as deeply etched in the national character as the fjords carved into its rugged landscape, Norway has thrived by going its own way. When others splurged, it saved. When others sought to limit the role of government, Norway strengthened its cradle-to-grave welfare state.
And in the midst of the worst global downturn since the Depression, Norway’s economy grew last year by just under 3 percent. The government enjoys a budget surplus of 11 percent and its ledger is entirely free of debt.
By comparison, the United States is expected to chalk up a fiscal deficit this year equal to 12.9 percent of its gross domestic product and push its total debt to $11 trillion, or 65 percent of the size of its economy.
