I am not so sure that Singer is sentient, if that helps.
Incidentally, many years ago, when the National Lampoon was still funny, the fake newspaper section had an article to the effect that the Supreme Court had gone senile as a group and made an argument similar to Singer's, though "more" extreme.
It was accompanied by a grainy black and white photo of a gawky high school boy with a plaid shirt captioned "Legally abortable fetus Johnson."
