Taranto's a righty? I thought moderate. The rooster episode is great. Moral: never let the bastards get you down. Tecs, you ought to send this on to our former FCP antagonist and colleague of yours. Predictably, he was a big ACLU guy and might be proud that they looked beyond Taranto's views and supported the free-speech principle. Still, the current left's paraphilia involving muzzling the right should be a sobering halt from the habitual self-congratulation. I quit sending to Taranto after he didn't post a lot of my submissions in a row. I also have quit firing my papers off to the Annals. That'll loin 'em.
Speaking of papers, I got the galley proofs today from some snotty Brits, who made lots of pesky little corrections in my opus. One that grated was changing "Theorem blah insures that..." to ""Theorem blah ensures that..." Jeez, sounds like Mr Rot being picky, and asking for a VCP. What should I do, bitch about it (but how?), or let it slide?
It's the difference between a fine nuanced and sophisticated Versaille-au-Oxford command of the Queen's English and the crude bastardizations of Ye Colonial Rabble. Now, go drink some of that Ensure they're trying to get you to guzzle and then write 'em dat u instead will go with "The Theorem is now stronger than the purest vodka"
They also killed all references to "this finishes the proof" and replaced them by "this completes the proof". Wtf is the difference?
Tecs, "finishing" something means to kill it, so finishing a proof is not a good goal for even a part of your paper. All disciplines that perform calculations by drawing Wassily Kandinsky knock-offs deserve finishing, in my considered.
I'm with the fruity pom, you're wrong if you mean to say that the proof is done.
POWWW!
AA, "purest vodka" should be replaced by "synthemesc." Duh.
I was about to suggest, Herr Rott, that your "doctoryau.com" bit was a masterpiece of absurd non-sequiturism...... but then I tried to use one of those links to the "papers". Enfin, it was a subtle masterpiece of Sequiturism. Kudos to the Man from Wien.
Which link doesn't work, Herr "html" Rott? By the way, when I link to a google search, I take the pains of deleting the browser-specific verbiage, leaving only the clean search terms. Is that what confuses you? Or the PDE stuff?
You Professors of Google Scholasticism are too recondite for us Stinking Peasants. We have a truly crude method of judging if a link works. We click on it....then, if what was ostensibly linked to actually shows up, then we say "Works", and if some polite variant of "this fucking shit don't shine" comes up, then we say "Doesn't Work". Now please proceed with how many angelic excuses can do The Full Pepe on the head of a pinhead.

Send me a VCP and seethe, but you should be pleased that they didn't advise you to go back to Russia.
Now you may seethe.
That is all.

This finishes the proof still looks perfectly acceptable to me: it's used, e.g., in here.
Speaking of which, they also changed all e.g. to "for instance", and all i.e. to "that is". Latin not good anymore?
Latin is Racist, Tecumseh. The Brits are in the Vanguard of the Progressivism. Where they lead you'd better follow. Capisce?
Herr Rott: "I'm with the fruity pom"
FCP Wien appoints Andrew Sullivan as Mannschafter.
Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist.
Nice job, VCP-boy!

Here's what Safari spits:

Nice, eh? You have heard of the href part, right, Prof. von Neumann?
Picky, picky, picky. Have you heard of deleting the trailing crap on an url, Prof. Doktor Herr Rott?

That's too simpliste a method, AA. You gotta play with a recalcitrant link, massage it gently till it works. It's an art, not a science.
I thought the heavy technical work yours, señor since you have beeg Harvard brain. But cheet, you're more huevón than anyone writing thee html.
Get a job in the algodón-peeking business, and then geev me a llamada. Eef not, entonces vuelva a Rusia.
