I try to treat my friends to a good time and "unexpectedly" the deal with the entertainment falls through.
This is like Tecs' taking friends out for beer and his paying only half of own share, bitching and whining about roof repairs and fancy school tuitions.
Ah, are you talking about that time we went to a bar close to Harvard Yard, and some pot-bellied guy from one of the Dakotas tagged along? Or was it another time, when a longshoreman from Eastern Europe came by? I think the IPA was on me, both times -- at least one of the rounds, no?
Half of them must have been Dutch-style, and the rest we took turns, no? So OK, maybe you were left holding the bag twice, and me once--is that a fair description? If so, I owe you a pitcher of IPA at John H., next time you're in town. Why don't you come for the Oktoberfest?

As usual, Mr Rot tries to avoid paying the tab.

Cry me a rivah, Prof. Rheingold.

And at most one, but if memory serves, approximately six rounds were consumed on each occasion.
