Perhaps surprisingly, the audio is now linked here. The city Codrescu talks about, Sibiu, is really nice. I put a pic of it.
And, by the way, I did climb those mountains behind it (the Southern Carpathians), but only during the summer. Even so, they are quite rough, especially if the weather gets bad.
Andrei Codrescu was one of the reasons I started listening to NPR a long time ago. He was the best they had and a New Orleanean to boot.
I thought he's at LSU. Did the Tigers move to the swamplands downriver?
