Yet, yet--things are not totally black and white. Newt was a pain in the butt when he wanted to annoy Reagan, as Abrams said, and as Lowry reiterates, quoting chapter and verse. OK, OK, a rather petty quibble, in the grand scheme of things, especially when set side-to-side with Mitt's utter indifference to the conservative cause throughout the 1980s and 1990s. But still, Newt's baggage is infinite, and the amount of enemies he has accumulated over the years is uncountable. At crunch time, it shows.
