Riveting News About the Titanic...


...but not of glacial proportions:

Examining 28 rivets from the bow area, the authors found they had been made from substandard wrought iron. This usually tough material needs a little slag (a glassy byproduct) to fortify it, but too much makes it fragile.

Apparently so, AI. They will continue talking and publishing about it, because like the history buffs who follow George Custer, anyone who writes a book on this shit knows there's a huge following who'll purchase it.
