But what does A I Rove say??

This is funny. Much as I hate to admit it (since Rove does not seem to be as smart as he's cracked up to be), I'm with him on that: Hillary has proved her mettle in this campaign, she's the better candidate than Obama. But the risks are much bigger with him: if he wins, we're up in deep doodoo. She's a died-in-the-wool nanny-stater (but not much more so than McCain, and more overtly), she'd appoint terrible judges (like Bubba did, and Obama would), would be much weaker on defense than McCain, and would bring back all that miasma from the Clinton years. But except for all that (which is not pretty), she's proved to be more of a centrist than Obama -- closer to, say, Lieberman than to him, after all. A strange election, let me tell ya.

I mean, the Clinton scandals. You remember those, don't you? Funny how those pinkos who would defend the Clintons at their most venal and obnoxious, now dropped them like a soiled blue dress, in favor of a newer object of adulation. The usual Clinton lapdogs -- Paul Begala,Lanny Davis, Sydney Blumenthal, The Ragin' Cajun, etc -- are forlorn figures nowadays. Sic transit gloria mundi.

As for the prosperity of the 90s -- well, OK, maybe Bubba had something to do with it, but much more likely, it was the peace dividend earned during the Reagan years being cashed in, plus the Republican Congress elected in 1994 that had at least as much (if not more) than whatever Bubba did in terms of concrete policies that he invented (what were those, again?)
