Limiting the damage
It was RNC funds, not McCain '08 money, that paid the now-famous $150,000 for Palin's campaign wardrobe. This is a huge mistake. Right. As in 1996, I'd say it's better at this stage to try and save what's salvageable -- namely, not get blown out of the water in the Senate.

Why spend $150K on this?
Palin has better political sense than those schmucks that can't get ahead of a race-baiting terrorist sympathizer and you take the schmucks' side?
Not necessarily -- those McCain handlers probably screwed up in the beginning, by keeping Palin under wraps, and controlling her media access to only those rather disastrous interviews. But McCain chose both -- those schmucks, and Palin. There's a lot to complain about the extreme unfairness of the media -- I fully agree on that -- but these are self-inflicted wounds. And, of course, CNN will take delight in reporting them.
At any rate, my initial point was, and remains: why throw good money after bad, instead of trying to salvage what can be salvaged in the House, and especially, in the Senate?
$150k won't change anything. The Rep Senate delegation is filthy too.
McConnell and Dole are not very inspiring, but they look clean enough to me. And I'll take Coleman over Franken any time of the day. If we end up with Franken in the Senate, this will be an extremely sad day for the U.S. How, oh how, can we sink so low?
I am not so sure, AI. Ok to the first two. I don't know much anyway. But I remember Norm COleman being an asshole and now he's a friend of convenience.
Probably Al Franken will do the right more favors as a preposterous senator than Coleman would as a dissenting supposed deep thinker.
Of course you would rightly accuse me of trying to be too smart by a half...
Back to what we were on about, though, I respect Palin and think she's more often right than the eggheads in the campaign. They ought to shut up and listen to her.
Reminds me of classic Cheech & Chong, actually.
Here!
Well, OK, Colemanis an asshole (at least he was in his youth): In college, Coleman was a liberal Democrat and was actively involved in the anti-war movement of the early 1970s. He ran for student senate and opined in the school newspaper that his fellow students should vote for him because he knew that "these conservative kids don't fuck or get high like we do." But Al Franken is a much bigger asshole -- right now.
Get ready for Hagel as SecDef?
No way. Too smart. Barney Frank.
