We are in good hands

That the attack was "foiled" by a bad detonator and some civilian passengers is proof, she claims, that her agency is doing everything right. That is just about the dumbest thing she could say, on the merits and politically. I would wager that not one percent of Americans think the system is "working" when terrorists successfully get bombs onto planes (and succeed in activating them).
Pepean logic in all its splendor. I'll bet you a case of VCP that Pepe is amongst those 1%.

Update: officials said the suspect told them he had obtained explosive chemicals and a syringe that were sewn into his underwear from a bomb expert in Yemen associated with Al Qaeda. But, Janet Napolitano says there is no indication that the man who attempted to destroy an airliner in Detroit on Christmas Day is part of a larger terrorist plot.

IT'S ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!!!

If Bush had not stolen the election and then engaged in an illegal and immoral oil-grab to avenge his daddy, the whole world would love us, Tecs.

Jeez, why aren't you hanging around the intersection of JFK and Mass. Ave., like I suggested.

You could learn a thing or two.

Good point at Hotair.

Recall waaaay back when Janet Napolitan was saying that our biggest threat was right-wingers with old Civil War era blunderbusses and moonshine stills?

Abdul doesn't look the type somehow.

Bus is getting ready?

Van Gogh angle.

By contrast, Mijnheer Schuringa jumped on the guy, got him in a choke hold, and dragged him away. That makes more sense - even if it is, under Secretary Napolitano's new rules, now illegal. Perhaps she can have him prosecuted.

I didn't think of that -- despite my long acquaintance with pinko logic, I still haven't mastered it completely. But yes, it makes perfect sense, now that Steyn mentions it.

Napolitano keeps diggin': “It doesn’t seem there was more information to put him to no-fly. You need information that is specific and credible if you’re going to bar people from air travel.”

Duhhh.. What more specific and credible info do you need than the guy's own father (not some random guy, but a big poombah of some sort) comes in at the Embassy to turn in his own son as a would-be terrorist? Not enough for Janet, not nearly enough -- even to body search the guy at Schiphol?

Heckuva Job Janet.

Duhhh: Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R., Mich.) said Sunday in an interview that serious alarm bells should have sounded after Mr. Abdulmutallab's father went to U.S. authorities. "Within the intelligence community, I would think this would have gone right to the top of the pile, saying, 'We've got to look at this guy,'" Mr. Hoekstra said.

No kiddin'.

Tecs, I wondered about Steyn's quote too. Of course the pinko logic of it all makes sense to me. Certainly it is against the law to assault a poor oppressed minority freedom fighter with burning genitalia, but is it true that this is illegal?

Tecumseh said...

Does that law apply to a flying Dutchman?
