Now that I'm Pepe, I agree with Frank Rich

You and Pepe will have a lot more Opera to gossip about now too.

Hey, where is the towel for the waterboarding?

Yes, AI and MFT have also noted that you need to place the towel correctly, and pour the water correctly, for the waterboarding process to be effective.

But coming back to Frank Rich's hatchet job on Mitt: maybe true, maybe not. I'm always extremely skeptical of birkenstockers accusing people of being "racist", sexist", "fascist", and what not. For them (eg, for someone like Sandy), those words have basically no meaning, they are used almost exclusively as bludgeons to cow others into submission, and bow to their pinkish-greenish dogma. Now, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and maybe there is some grain of truth in what Rich says, but I won't buy it from such an obviously biased, and invidious, source, bent on calumniating people for partisan purposes. Got some reliable mud to throw at Mitt? Absent solid evidence to the contrary, I'll take him at his word that he is an honest, upright man.

AI, I don't think I've followed the actual debates as closely as anyone else on this board. However, has anyone asked Mitt what he thinks about the faith he subscribes to as having only recognized non-Whites as people since the late-1970s?

I understand your remarks on race-baiting, too.

But this is a serious problem -- to put it mildly -- in Mitt's religion, and something Mormons ought to be more upfront about.

AI, that's not the substance of his argument-hatchetjob, as I see it. It's that Romney is a flipflopper a la Kerry but worse. I have been saying for a while that Romney is our Edwards, but I was wrong. He's our Kerry and Rich is right.
About the Oprah religion being more really American than the real ones, I hope he's wrong, but I fear he's right.

Look, maybe so -- I'm open to hear the arguments. But not from a Rich man, with an ax to grind.

As for Mormonism, I'll grant you that -- it's quacky. So? JJ, is Mitt running for Elder of Denver (or whatever they call their ersatz Pope there), or for Pres? Make the case he's "our Kerry" (or Edwards, or Kuchinich, or whoever), based on grown-up arguments, not on Dowdyisms. (Powwww! Take that, put it in your pipe, and smoke it, you'll be channeling Pepe on the Ouija board.)
