As for that ploughshares bit, yeah, it was a favorite thing for the Ban-the-Bomb, Useful-Idiot, Fellow-Traveller crowd during the Cold War. I guess they just recycled the theme now, sucking up to Iran, Syria, NK, whatever, instead of the Russkies.
