Pygmy Obama and his Giant Shadow
"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."
— Lin Yutang
To be fair to Lin Yutang, his sentence sounds far better in Mandarin [has a nice poetic rhythm and lilt] than it does in English. For a similar sentiment, put out in Lingua Nostra, is the effort by a pissed off Chargaff when he heard that Watson&Crick had come up with the structure of DNA:
""That such pygmies throw such giant shadows only shows how late in the day it has become."
For us,it is nearing twilight. And the skies are a series of dark Reds and Greens and Bleus to Die For.

The long shadow is down to 3% according to Zogby.
It shows how small a pygmy he is that even with a Giant Shadow he is only 3% over Mccain right now.
But that Shadow will be enough to fetch him a Giant number of electoral college votes.
Two weeks. Two weeks.
Actually, JJ, I can easily see a race akin to that of 2000. Except this time McCain wins the popular vote and Obama takes power with the electoral college.
Hey, if 35% was good enough for Adolf to become Chancellor I doubt Baracky will complain if 48% garlands him Imperator.
Rules is rules. Also, though I detest Buchanan no end, (ok, partly because he's AI's hero like Peggy Noonan) he's right here when he writes that the backlash will be vicious if Obama gets in. He'll be powerless if he wins, but let's hope he doesn't anyway.
Yes, I know about the EC. I also know everyone is lying to pollsters this year.
Let's hope more than enough are lying, JJ.

Actually, that column by Buchanan was surprisingly good. A thoughtful point made well. It's been many decades since Pat more consistently wrote that way.
If Obama has that absolute majority that the MSM ullulates over, it will make the two year "Great Society" stint of LBJ look like a day at a New Hampshire town meeting.
On the other hand, if he squeaks in and has to fret over positioning for future elections, then Baracky will be more controlled. He isn't going to squander this chance for making America in the image of the New Party by acting out with obvious impatience.... although I hope he does.
Yes, good analysis by Pat -- but it's pretty much what the WSJ editorial from a couple of days ago (which I linked to) said. No rocket science here, just clockwork orange.
Did I mess the WSJ editorial? Could you provide a link here, AI, please?
So, AI, we're the Droogs.....or the old guys who the Droogs liked to clobber?
Yeah, link, AI, I didn't see that WSJ editorial either
