Firecrackers for Christmas

A thread I started (while Herr Rot was fast asleep at the wheel, though he woke up at some point).

Update: The man who saved the plane. Satnav for terrorists?

Connecting the dots? You kiddin' me? That's too complicated.

More: Abdulmutallab was known in federal counterterrorism files and may have been on the government’s list of suspicious passengers banned from flying in the United States.

Ah, they worry more about granny at the airport than AQ guys wearing firecrackers attached to their legs. Ulululululu, says Pepe.

Granny is an armed clinger from western PA, Tecs.

Just when Tecs was waving his Obama flag...

Oh well.

Darn! By the way, what happens with Hasan -- the killer from Ft Hood? Has there been any conclusion to the investigation? What's taking so long?

Update: said "student" lived in a basement flat in a smart mansion block near Harley Street in central London. Hmmm... You know how much the rents there are? So who paid for that? Ah, even asking the question means you are an insensitive knuckle-draggin' Neanderthal.

It all comes together (from wiki): The senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Pete Hoekstra, said officials in the Obama administration and officials with law-enforcement information access told him the suspect may have had contact with Anwar Al Awlaki; al-Awlaki is the former imam linked to al-Qaeda, three of the 9/11 bombers, and Nidal Hasan, the suspected Fort Hood shooter, among others.] Hoekstra said: “The question we'll have to raise is was this imam in Yemen influential enough to get some people to attack the US again." Hoekstra said in an interview: “The suspicion is also that” the suspect “had contact with al-Awlaki. The belief is this is a stronger connection with al-Awlaki” than Hasan had.

Nigerian banker? Is this the guy who spams my mailbox telling me I have $10 million waiting for me in his bank, if only I send him a little deposit showing my good faith?

Not from Planet Pepe:

Schuringa dove over four passengers to reach Abdul Mutallab’s seat. The suspect had a blanket on his lap. "It was smoking and there were flames coming from beneath his legs."

"I searched on his body parts and he had his pants open. He had something strapped to his legs."

The unassuming hero ripped the flaming, molten object — which resembled a small, white shampoo bottle — off Abdul Mutallab’s left leg, near his crotch. He said he put out the fire with his bare hands.

So I was almost right: kind of dropping OJ in Abdul's lap. Pay up, Herr Rot.

Hoekstra brought up the fatal Fort Hood shootings allegedly [allegedly??] perpetrated by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is reportedly [reportedly??] linked to a Islamic cleric in Yemen. [...] "The Fort Hood shooter had ties to Yemen. Are we starting to see a pattern here?"

Naahhh. It's all isolated dots, no edges in the graph. It's a theorem of Pepean graph theory.

I know I will be accused of being an Obama delusionist by Tecumseh Forbes Kerry, but wasn't all this shit supposed to stop when we elected a guy named Hussein to the presidency?

Do you feel loved, Tecs?

Tecumseh said...

It's all my fault, Mr Rot, it's all my fault. There, do you feel better, already? [But remember, you were the guy who was cheering on Sleepy Mac when he forbid us all using Obama's middle name during the campaign. But let bygones ne bygones.]

Now, from the Steyn link you posted:

This time the last line of defense worked. Next time, the paradise-seeking jihadist might get lucky and find himself sitting next to, say, Charlie Sheen, too immersed in a lengthy treatise on how 9/11 was an inside job to notice the smoldering socks in the next seat; or to the same kind of nothing-to-see-here crowd who thought Major Hasan's e-mails were "consistent with his research interests".

Yep. And, if Abdul had been sitting next to Pepe, Pepe would have felt a tingle going up his legs at the sight, and would have started ululating.

We deserve all this, Tecs. Ask anyone at the intersection of Mass Ave and JFK.

Tecumseh said...

Is that some kind of "square" you're talking about? And, yes, I know Mass Ave, but what is JFK? I thought that's an airport in Queens, no?

Mr roT said...

There are a lot of queens there, yes.

Tecumseh said...

You didn't answer my question, Mr Rot...

ah, well...
