On Pepe's dime

Charly's tax euros hard at work. Finally, finally, some good use comes of it, by letting the Nanny State take care of moi. Though, I must say, I was totally underwhelmed by the TGV--supposedly the crown jewel of Frenchie technology. Unlike the lowliest Greyhound bus on a dingy run to Albany, this train has no WiFi--the horror, the horror! I mean, duh -- when will Charly pay up to install free WiFi everywhere? It's a basic human right, no? And, to add insult to injury, there was no juice in those Frenchie plugs. The TGV guy says it's due to an electrical malfunction. Man, oh, man. Charly, I think this is what happens when you don't pay enough taxes. I'm waiting for Dutch to increase your tax rate to 75%, and then perhaps -- perhaps -- they'll figure out how to get current flowing in those fancy choo-choo trains.

Nice rant, Tecs. Charly's hemorrhoids will be on fire for a week.

You got it all wrong, Charly. I'm waiting for you to pony up 75% on your income (like the Socialist credo says you must do) so that the Nanny State will improve the decrepit infrastructure on the choo choo trains so beloved by any bien-pensant pinko, and finally install WiFi on said trains, some 20 years after the internet was invented by a Brit in Switzerland, and fix those damn plugs with funny holes that don't have juice in them.

How much clearer can I make it for you, Charly? Maybe draw a commuting diagram?

You really should try visiting those calanques. The air is bracing, much better than the stoopid, fetid air in Gay Paree.

Even the nanniest of nanny states can't afford amtrak quality Tecs. The US is just technologically superior.

You sound angry - is everything ok at home ?

Amtrak has WiFi. And the sockets work. Then again, the speed is abysmal. Can't have everything, ca we?

I'm fine, Charly. Living off the largesse of the Nanny State. Doesn't make me angry at all. Just satisfied.

Nannystatism, french-style.

(For the gallically challenged, this is a play on words with changement - change -, ie the socialist party's motto for this unfortunate political season, and échangisme - wife-swapping-.

I thought DSK was into maid-swapping, not wife-swapping. Non?

Nannystatism only sucks when it benefits others. Likewise, give a million bucks to one of the anti-capitalist comedians complaining on Occupy Whatever and watch his/her core beliefs flip in a femtosecond. Do ideologues do anything else than rationalize his/her interest of the moment ?

Judging by the recent news, DSK has shown a breadth of activity that transcends the narrow socio-economic confines of hotel maids. It seems the only limit he has is to stick to his own species.

Genau. Like, the 50% of people who pay 0 taxes. So how about we forget about Socialism, altogether? It's a deal, Charly?

Minsk/Pinsk. Pepe is taking the long view on this one.
