"Since Sept. 11, many Muslim Americans have been subjected to searches at airports and other locations based upon their religion and national origin," she said. "We must make it illegal."
So that means airport security will just profile us Scandinavian, Portuguese, French, Romanian, Italiano and Anglo-Texas looking types. (think: that scene from Airplane, the movie, where airport security shakes down a grandma while Mohommad and Ali saunter thru the checkpoints with RPGs and AKs.)
Hey, man, Queen Marie visited NDak a while ago: In Mandan, North Dakota, the Queen was initiated into the Sioux tribe by Sioux Chief Red Tomahawk (famous for being the man who killed Chief Sitting Bull). The Chief presented Queen Marie with his own feathered headdress, a high honor possibly without precedent for a woman. The Queen was then carried on a buffalo robe and her finger was pricked so that her blood could be mingled with that of the Chief. She presented the tribe with a Romanian robe and Princess Ileana presented a Romanian bracelet.
That evening in Medora, North Dakota, the royal party attended a rodeo held in their honor. Queen Marie, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Ileana watched the spectacle from horseback. The rodeo was an enormous treat for Queen Marie, a lifelong fan of American cowboy and Indian culture as interpreted by early Hollywood films and the novels of Western writer Zane Grey, with whom she corresponded. Her childhood hero had been Buffalo Bill Cody.
Also AI: I grew up in the cities mentioned; they are opposite one-another on the Upper Missouri: Bismarck and Mandan, N.D. I never knew your Queen was through them parts until now.
Medora is still real pretty nestled in the Badlands of Western Dakota; the Little Missouri River runs right by it; and they've constructed it to have that small-town, not-too-touristie feeling. There's an outdoor amphatheatre. The city itself sits in the south unit of Teddy Roosevelt National Park. You should vacation there some time: Queen Marie wants you to. If you do, I'll meet up with you there and show you some Badlands hiking.
Well, she's not my Queen -- I forswore allegiance to any foreign potentate when I pledged allegiance to the flag many years ago -- but yes, she was a nice lady in her time, from what I hear. Didn't know she travelled to North Dakota, either -- found that after some googling. At any rate, yes, I wouldn't mind making a detour at some point, maybe if I have some business at NDSU. You know anything about that outfit?

I've heard of a small agricultural community college that's situated about 70 miles south of the University of North Dakota. I think it's called, "North Dakota Community College." Perhaps that's the one. They have farm animals there too. Maybe even goats. Don't forget to tell JJ.

From JJs map, it looks like the strongest Romanian presense in NDak is in Williams and Morton Counties.
Two guys in NDak? Wow.

Ah, yes, the American West as idyllic place. So enchanting. A place away from high-pressure "civilization..."
