A Liberal Mystery Explained

One had wondered how Pepe "Versailles, Petain, and FidelSoc Forever" could in good conscience describe himself as a Liberal, you know, up there with JS Mill or Bertrand Russell, but if a proud member of the Nation of Islam can be so described, then why not Pepe?

aa - i don't quite understand the repeat references to versailles. But whatever the case, combining it with the other labels makes me a pinko-stalino-lefty petaino-royalist. Shouldn't you put some order in your epitets and give them at least the appearance of consistency?

Arelcao Akleos said...

The consistency lies in the Pepe's disdain for democracy, Ricains, and those who have the gumption to walk the walk and not just sit back Big and Easy like and grasp one's Ubi Mea. In short, the consistency lies in a fascism with an aristocrat's hauteur. And in the 20th Century the combination of descriptors , or epithets as you prefer, was far too common a reality. And you have the unsingular honor of sallying forth into the 21st Century under the same banners. Now, whether they are attached to Pepe's hip-bone or eye-ball, or in any other arrangement is no matter, what matters is that they all attach to Pepe

By the way, "Pinko" and "Stalinist" have come from AI, and maybe JJ.
I emphasize your love of reddish Caudillos, of hairy Saddamites, of the secure provinciality of Versailles as that little bit of France which, if still left untouched by Islam Militant, stands in proof positive in your mind that Islam Militant ain't squat to worry about in this world. And, of course, of Petain's Shining Vision of Appeasement and Capitulation.
But, even with your attempt to throw in what you considered "incompatible" elements into the stew, from other observers of the scene, yet the consistency is Pepean.

Did this guy change his name from Mohommad to "Keith Ellison"? That sounds more Norske than Mecca. Oh well. I heard they're starting minarette construction around the U of M Social Science towers on the west bank.

The El-Lison Towers? Well, MFT, at least you are no longer there to be thrown from the highest tower.

aa - how do you figure "disdain for democracy"?

Arelcao Akleos said...

pepe, how do you figure your love of FidelSoc and Petain is compatible with democracy?

The Darkroom said...

If my love for petain stems from nothing more than favoring immediate withdrawal, the implication then is that anti-war advocacy is undemocratic. Pretty far-fetched, but in line with the neoconic (nard) demonization of all opposition.

is FidelSoc Castro ? I have not professed any affinity for him other than for the Cuban healthcare system and the cigars that I bring back after each visit.

Arelcao Akleos said...

Actually, you never mentioned the Cuban health care system before. But no doubt you have been busy using it, as its quality you so admire. What you did mention was how admirable Fidel was, keeping to his Good Socialist Diktates, rather than imitating the Corrupt and Evil Pinochet with his weakness for economic development and his acquiescence in restoring democracy. So, how exactly does that jibe with a love of democracy? How does capitulation and the refusal to see democracy as something worse fighting for jibe with love of democracy?
It jibes with many things, this Fascism of Versailles, but democracy is not one of them. Unless, of course, you do unto"Democracy" as you have done unto "Liberal. An old apparitchiks trick, worthy of Honecker.

aa - you should also keep in mind that, by your definition, pretty much the entirety of the planet is a petainist. Where is your silly "war on terror" popular other than in Houston suburbs, some parts of transylvania and poland?

The Darkroom said...

In other wors, you sound very much like the monkey alone in his cage wondering why everyone on the other side of the bars is locked up.

Arelcao Akleos said...

Uh, no, For example Islam Militant, and its huge swathes of allied souls, within and without the Ummah, is very far from being Petanist. Even you might acknowledge that when Petain signed that little sheet of Capitulation he was looking into the faces of men who were far from being what he was.
But it would be just like you to pretend that, but for the Axis of Evil that binds Houston Suburbia, Transylvania, and Poland, Bill would Yet Rule, the Twin Towers Yet would Stand, and All Would Be Right in the Peaceable Kingdom.
If the Left so decrees, it is not possible for the enemy to have a will of his own, eh?
As for those bars which capture, be careful you are not Singe'd.
