This Road Goes to Vicious Old Comforts

Debka's track record on US actions and thoughts, on Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, etc...., with hindsight over these past 4 years, have substantially better than any other "analyst", MSM or otherwise, I've encountered. So this sort of stuff is sobering in the way being told that Alcee Hasting being placed in charge of the Judicial Comittee would be [that was just a nightmare, right?]. To go back to our wrangles of 2003-4, I now regret not having voted for John Kerry. Yes, the silver spoon stealing blighter almost surely would have been as bad as we suspected. But at least we would have had clarity, had "truth in advertising", and the congress would have played a serious role in checking excesses. With Bush, whatever his few months of resolve after 911 led us to think, or hope, he was significantly different from his father, the bitter truth is that he is not. He is now, in fact, behaving much as one would have expected by tracking his previous career and the intentions of his administration before 911 hit. In the tussle between Old Comforts and The Bitch Reality in this administration's soul, the clear winner is Old Comforts. And the damage this is doing us is at least as great as whatever Kerry could have managed to enact.
And, no, it doesn't inspire any confidence whatsoever that Bush Pere had Prince Bandar instruct Bush Fils on the "nature of international realities". [this not from article, but from Woodward's book, which I do not think, whatever his purpose in writing it, be accused of playing loose with the facts]
It is a shame Bush couldn't have been swept away with the tide last tuesday.
