Gaol time

Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States [..] or any facsimile thereof, in, or in connection with, any advertisement, poster, circular, book, pamphlet, or other publication, public meeting, play, motion picture, telecast, or other production, or on any building, monument, or stationery, for the purpose of conveying, or in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States or by any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both. What part of this law is unclear to Obama? Ah well, yet another distraction.

Yet another poll: Forty-five percent (45%) say that Obama views our society as generally fair and decent while 39% think the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee sees society as generally unfair and discriminatory. Boy, some Ricains are stooopid, as Pepe says. On the other hand, who but a dyed-in-the-wool pinko could think Obama has a rosy view of the US of KKK A?

This is the LA Times? The arrogance and sleaziness of it all is starting to penetrate (just barely) even some of the not-totally-gone pinkos. But not Pepe, no, no, no!

The arrogance to arrogate the seal of the US (a criminal offense, by the way -- not that that would matter to a pinko). And the sleaziness of pontificating on public funding, only to dump it under the bus when gazillion dollar come down the pike. Even the LA Times can see through this -- just read the article.

An offense ? you gotta be kidding. Answer is here.

One more time, here is the law. What part of it is unclear to you, Pepe? Or, the law does not apply to pinkos, that it?

I read it ai. And I answered. It's not the "great" seal of the president - it is only vaguely reminiscent of it.

This reminds me of the whole silly debate about flag "desecration". Does burning something that looks like the us flag but that isn't constitute desecration (for instance a flag with 10 stripes and 47 stars)? In other words at what level of discrepancy would first amendment rights kick in ?

The same can be asked here: the statute specifies "a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States" must be given. I am saying that, with colors that are so different from the actual seal, and a motto that is unrelated to the original save for the language used, this does not convey any impression of sponsorship, any more than a pink $4 dollar bill would convey the impression of being actual cash. In short, this is a bullshit issue.

As many predicted, Obama's "possum" seal was promptly thrown under the bus. Hmmmm... How come, Pepe? Never mind. It's down the memory hole.

because it's become a political hot potato & it isn't worth the headache. it's just a stupid logo, ai.
