Steyn and ouzo

Too many showtunes and the Fall colors are making their way into Steyn's Wonderful Life. This is a time for dirges and wailing.

A lot of the dynamite is well past its sell-by date: Two references last night to Ronald Reagan negotiating with Tip O'Neill. No one remembers who Tip O'Neill is. McCain might as well have been evoking misty watercolor mem'ries of Talleyrand at the Congress of Vienna. I noticed that, too. Once was bad. Twice was horrible. Mac is stuck in the past, unfortunately.

Yet another disoriented fellow. Everything is spinning out of control.

Dennis Miller says what we're thinking:
"Come on, John! FIGHT!"

There seems to be no fight left in McCain. He seems tired, and old without vigor.
Mitt is busy making sure fellow Ivy grads get to keep the multimillions they stole from investors.
Huckabee is doing bizarro stuff down Dixie way.
Georgie Deux is shuffling off his presidential coil leaving us all fervently hoping there will never be a Georgie Trois.

So, short of McCain resigning and a united front of Lieberman and Palin gigging up, there is no one who even cares to seriously joust with our own Commodus, the Imperator Obamacles.

And with the perfect Sorosian twist, Iceland, the shimmering icy haven, is the first to go kersplat on the Dems grand BF Blows Wall Street ploy.

So this time first comes Farce, and Tragedy will gracefully settle in later.
