Anyway, if you look back, you'll see in his comments that he was simply unaware that the Global Warming this was disputed at all.

Tecumseh said...: That's an invidious comparison! Unlike Pepe, who never bothered to delve into the finer points of the "global warming" hypothesis, I tried using cellphones several times. I even went so far once, at your prodding, to try and "text" a message. But I hated every minute of it -- these gizmos simply don't work for me. Besides, I'm sure they'd fry my brains if I used them on a regular basis. So I reject these devilish contraptions on very pragmatic grounds, after having tested (and refuted) the Rotter hypothesis that they could work for me.; 4/23/2010 8:34 AM

It is possible, Rott, that you are correct about Pew's little slice of Pepea. Get a PhD in a field, and then be so ignorant of the one huge public controversy in that field that you end up like Louis XVI, dazed and confused in a private Versailles, wondering what the shit are those peasants yabbering about. [Yeah, Rott, with a specialty in geophysics Le Pew shoulda been well aware of the geo as well as the physics. It kinda comes with the terrain].
Or it could be that, as Tecumseh suggested, swallowing the whole kit and caboodle of climate boondoggling, without question or reflection upon the evidence, contrary as well as pro, was a "truth" too convenient for Pepe; a dogma too perfectly aligned with the dearly held verities of the pinko mind as to give any hope for anything but bleating out the party line.
In either case, whether the political will to ignorance or mere pinko dogmatic slumber, having a PhD in geophysics only accentuates the absurdity of Pepe seeking "refuge" in either.; 4/23/2010 8:38 AM

The cherry trees are blooming. Beautiful.
DC is more crowded now, lotsa construction in the beltway. Apparently folks have figured out it pays to be near Versailles. But I miss the old, quieter, more natural DC of the 70s.; 4/23/2010 12:17 PM

Some fun, some not so fun. The highlight was, surprisingly, the national aquarium in Baltimore. New and Grand, worthy of Versailles. Went by Georgetown [the University]. Not a single person that was there back in the long ago still seems to be around...And the Jesuits make their presence known by their graveyard, it seems.
Walked around the mall, which is way overbuilt now....and far far more "agents"/federales on the ground than back in the stumblin ol' days of Fordo da Magnificent. Everyone looked young...either because they were young or because botox is now easily affordable to the bureau-crats.
It was depressing being not just passe', but from an era that seems almost completely forgotten.; 4/23/2010 2:14 PM
