Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"

Love that song, and most of the Eagles' stuff. Impressed that you know it, Tecs. I thought you had the Red Army Choir as required listening during your formative years.
No, I wouldn't consider that funny; I know the Russians were real bastards. But the Red Army Choir were an outstanding set of musicians. Believe it or not, I heard these guys at commie Texas A & M Univ. in their concert series a billion years back.
I was blown away, but less so than when the Chicago Symphony were trucked in and they played Coanda's Concerto for Orchestra.

I remember, Tecs, that the commies let you go see Louis Armstrong in concert and even paid the tab, the tab. Fantastic story. I still don't know what they were thinking back then.
Didn't the commies say that the US still had slavery or something like that?
In France, that is still the going understanding of things in great Satan EEUU.

Of course I would listen to the Eagles in my flaming youth, and tune out the Red Army Choir. You kiddin' me?

As for Satchmo, yes, I was at his concert back in '65. As the article says:

In 1965, Sala Mare a Palatului din Bucuresti gazduia un eveniment muzical de exceptie : recitalul lui Louis Armstrong - unul dintre cei mai mari muzicieni de jazz din toate timpurile. A fost singurul concert al artistului in Romania, iar cei care au avut norocul sa-l urmareasca pe scena - ajunsi acum la varsta senectutii - isi amintesc cu drag de acel eveniment.

Roughly translated: this was his unique concert in Romania, and those lucky enough to have been there -- and those are now senescent -- remember fondly that event.

Jeez.
