But of course. Here's AA's and his compatriots' taste in food: Carne de porco alentejana is another colossal Portuguese error of taste and decency, and so Portugal needs some theology and geometry, as Ignatius J. Reilly would rail. Who in hell knew that swine are bivalves?
What Herr Rott perhaps meant was that the Spaniards, having inherited a presence in Formosa by snatching away control of the Portuguese Crown after the annihilation of King and Army at the battle of Alcacer Quibir, presently "donated" it to the Dutch when a couple of 'em showed up with a gun or two. When the last Ming general, Koxinga, fleeing from the triumphant Ching, invaded Formosa the Dutch proved somewhat hardier, and with a few hundred of 'em, at Tamsui, with local tribal allies, held of an army of tens of thousands for over two years. The Spanish, in short, covered themselves in as much glory on that beautiful island as they did a couple of days ago against Honduras.
It's a great dish, if not yuppified too much [as at Herr Rott's favorite "Tasca"]. An additional virtue, beyond great taste, is that it is 100% Halal Free.
OK, I guess that I should cite AA as the person taking me to Tasca and forcing me to order me that dish in my forced conversion to Portubarbarism. I think we went to Tasca, right, AA? We had vinho verde too as AA was in full kill-Hispania mode. Kidding aside, this was a great meal and AA's company was great too. We ate until we hurt. I miss those days. Tecs, it's pork and clams, not mussels. Duh. VCP.

Beautiful rock in the water. Awfully generous of the Spaniards to donate it to the peasant nekulturny Portuguese, which can't even make paella.
The Spaniards "donated" Formosa to the Portuguese? Oh, c'mon, Herr Rott, do you really want to raise AA's ire to heretofore unimaginable heights?
I suggest penance.

How come I never tasted carne de porco alentejana? I gotta try it one of these days, when the weather gets cooler.
