About the same level as this.

Says Taranto:

The Middle East Media Research Institute quotes an interview with Samir 'Ubeid, an Iraqi researcher living in Europe, who wonders why Arabs have won so few Nobel Prizes:

Why has the prize been awarded to 167 Jews, and to only four Arabs out of 380 million Arabs--and all four are considered traitors? For example, [Anwar] Al-Sadat got the [Peace] prize during the normalization process, and as a price for Camp David.

But most Nobel categories are scientific, and kidnapping academics is not the best way to promote a thriving scientific culture.

Hey, I beat him to the punch on this one, didn't I? You think I can ask Taranto for a VCP?

I didn't know Sadat knew anything about the renormalization group.

You'd think these dudes would be suspicious of the prize going to an unusual amount of Scandinavians rather than Jews, eh?

I think Sinclair Lewis was the first American laurette to take the literary award. He originally hailed from Sauk Centre, MinnesoooOOOootaH.

The Analysis was better than Borat. Now, how could you beat lines like:
" Int: But Sakharov did win the Nobel Prize.
Genetic Idiot: I meant Chekhov! Chekhov, Chekhov".

By the way, he compared number of Jews to number of Arabs? I suppose he did not label them Jews vs Muslims because the ratio would look even more awful? Hey, we Portuguese have only two Nobel Prizes, one for the Father of Lobotomy, and the other for the Writer of Lobotomies. When will the stinking physicists and chemists and peacemakers join in the appreciation of brain evisceration?

In any case, this little discussion inspired me to get a little more versed in the history of the Nobel. I ordered Feldman's, "The Nobel Prize: A history of genius, controversy and prestige."

Anyone read that? And if so, gimme a review of Feldman's work.

Feldman was a Jew. His work is biased. He will likely say there a re a lot of Jewish Nobel winners or something scabrous likke that.

Thanks JJ. I'll burn the book as soon as it arrives. Whew! That was close.
