Secular society doesn't automatically = self-absorption. There's multiple contributing layers upon layers in any culture, and even more when cultures overlap. You know I have a distaste (putting it mildly) for Islam, but cultures also evolve, and change. It's important for Conservatives (and Liberals) to be forward when they have a distaste for some aspect of society; namely, that that aspect is changing in a way that they disprove of.

I read this article and wondered, "Was Steyn saying that we need to screw more?... or was this another understandable polemic directed against Islam?... or was he telling us to FEAR GOD?" I'm with him on the first two. If I'm accurate with the latter point, well, then he can piss off. Just cause Religion ain't state-sanctioned doesn't mean it's not happening in individual homes.

..."robot rights." In a nutshell, if robots advance to some form of consciousness, they'd be entitled to welfare. The state would be obliged to provide "robo-healthcare," as the report puts it, plus no doubt robo-pensions and all the rest.

Sounds like Socialist nirvana to me.
