The point of the ginsu knives it that this was an accidental shooting. Fatal accidents occur with doors and floors and knives and cars. The purpose of the object involved is irrelevant. What is relevant is intent.
That the weapon involved had the capability to kill many at once had nothing to do with the fact that the trigger hung on a branch and the rifle fired.
AI seems to have missed this obvious point also, now that he has designated himself the board's local legal scholar.
Hilariously AI informs us that AKs are "assault guns, [...] not hunting guns" and therefore grampa should be taken to court.
Had it been an elephant rifle with 50 times the killing power of a stupid little 7.62-39 and quartered the boy, then it would've been just fine.
The motorcycle is a conveyance and so it cannot cause wrongful death. The assault weapon is just that, so it cannot be the instrument of an accident.
the ak did exactly what it was purchased to do, albeit not on the right target. in the end, it's just another egg in the wonderful 2nd amendment omelette but I wonder if gran'pa still thinks it's all worth it (assuming he ever did). Incidentally, you do know that the shooting of family members is the #1 cause of death by firearms don't you?
Since we're on topic, I am putting together a group show for December. The theme is the incidence of the availability of firearms on the social fabric. all perspectives are welcome - i will post the announcement when I have it together as i know some of you are budding photographers.
Reluctantly, I have to (narrowly) agree with Pepe on this one: AK 47s are designed with only one purpose in mind -- to kill people. They should not be used for hunting, or for walking casually around, pretending to be Rambo. Unlike Pepe, I am for the 2nd Amendment, but not an absolutist on that score. The right to bear arms comes with some very precise obligations -- among which is use of extreme caution, under well-regulated circumstances. Idiots (or psychos) should forfeit the right.
if granpa decides to take an M16 duck hunting and in the process, runs over some guy bathing on the beach, yes, he is an idiot and belongs in the slammer.

Brilliant.

Pure foolishness. Granpa is an idiot because the trigger got caught in a branch. Or is it psycho?
And if it had been a big-game rifle with a scope and no banana clip, then it would have been an accident.
Jeez. You Eurotards are beyond help.

I said M16, I meant M1A1... the tanks, you know.
I guess so. What if it's a burning Citroën?
