Unfortunately the anti-Patrick vote is broken up between Cahill [the Independent] and Baker [the Republican]. This gives Deval a chance to play them off each other. Against each, individually, he would be clobbered.
Prediction: Obamakles' team is going to try to aid and abet, as best they can, a third party candidate in 2012. For example, they could try to curry favor with some influential person in the "Tea Party" movement to see if he/she might be inflated to a Perot like figure. After all, even Clinton was cooked if Perot had not taken so many voters from Bush Pere in 1992.
