This is bad shit. Ultimately, these guys will have to either pull themselves by their bootstraps, and away from the abbyss, or else give up, partition the country, and perform some mass migrations into respective enclaves.

Yup, it takes the incompetence of the neocons raised to an art form to make saddam look good.

Plus the BBC and Kofi and Chirac rowing with al Qaeda. Don't forget the fifth column.

Right, JJ. For example, take this propaganda piece from the Beeb.

why do you call it propaganda ? you think it isn't true ?

True or false, the only readership the article could possibly serve is that of Hezbollah and Hamas and Teheran...
Have we got big news pieces going around reporting that we are training the Canadians and vice versa?
No, Pepe, the article is likely true and the reason it was reported was to damage the Kurds. Not out of hatred for the Kurds or love of Hussein but out of blinding hatred for George W Bush and the USA.
That is the only explanation that editorial choice can have that is in the slightest bit rational.

jj - I can't believe you are making such an absurd statement.

JJ: Good explanation -- making sense of my rather elliptical statement. Yes, propaganda is not ipso facto based on lies (though there is a positive correlation between the two). What it means is that one takes whatever one has at hand (be it true or false), and twists and turns and manipulates it, with clearly ulterior motives, into words that serve the enemy and his purposes -- "aid and comfort" in the parlance of that Section 3 of Article 3 whose existence unfortunately you deny.

Be it as it may, I think I owe you here a half-bottle of VCP. Add it to the tab. On balance, I'm still about 47 jeroboams ahead.
