Ah - I get it now: one of those patented non-sequiturs. What does a Briton talking to Lopez about de-anglicization of London have to do with the American Revolution, or Daughters thereof? Perhaps in the sense that all human affairs are just ripples on a tiny pond, when viewed from, say, the Magellan Cloud...
Nah, more like a little gratuitous machismo. Often on the commute I have to listen to the hens of NPR interviewing other earnest, pseudomeaningful hens about some serious matter or another only to hear the discussion to morph into an Oprahfest for the University Community. This sounded to me like a conservative take on that bilge.
"Have to" listen to NPR? Who forces you, the Transit Authority? I never, ever listen to the radio (or watch TV, fo that matter). What's wrong with reading a book, or simply listening to one's thoughts?

What's a DAR?
Daughter of the American Revolution
