I am very impressed. To be able to kill a bear with a knife, especially a mere six-inch one, I've never heard of before...Am also impressed that the Black Bear was that aggressive in an open space..Grizzlies, sure, but that is not the rep of a black bear. But this story is very unlikely for Montana. We all carried bear [pepper] spray, and many carried a firearm....Less primal forms of getting diggy with Brother Urso.
Yes, great story. I don't know how you climb on the bear's back, and stick the knofe in his neck -- you can't practice that, it just must be the back of the brain that takes over, and pure adrenalin.
I'll be in nature for a few days (most likely without WiFi). Don't think there are any bears around there, but sharks do come by...
