Gadahn's message resonates

With Bill Maher: “If converting to Islam is all it takes to get the terrorists off our backs, then all I have to say is, ‘Lalalalalalala!’” Very comforting.

Good catch, JJ.

It doesn't matter how "understandable" Centanni and Wiig's actions are to us, what the target audience understands is quite different: that there is nothing we're willing to die for. And, to the Islamist mind, a society with nothing to die for is already dead.

True enough. But there are several steps from what those Fox journalists did (renouncing their faith to stay alive), to what Gadahn did (switching allegiance to AQ, and engaging in worldwide propaganda on its behalf, and against the US). And Bill Maher, with his spiteful "comic" routine, falls somewhere in between -- closer to Gadahn, I'd say. Aid and comfort, ya know?

Hang 'em high, Berkeley boy. I think you's givin' the enemy aid and comfort just liftin' pinkies and sipping tea with them.
Shame.
We're picking out a scaffold jest fer ya.

In the past I've been upfront about critiquing Christians (and all religion for that matter). However:

Maher's caustic remarks are predictable. I know the variety of Christian he speaks of, wearing the badge and not the lifestyle. However, some of the humblest and giving people I know also happen to be Christians.

Perhaps Maher has spent too much time with the Hollywood Christian and not enough with the forgive and let live variety.

Oh well, as the worm turns; or as the scimitar pressure increases on the American neck...
