Syrian terrorists bring attention to themselves
Pepe, do you remember when Syria assassinated the Lebanese Prime Minister in Beirut with thousands of pounds of explosives? Was that W's fault too?

We just need to get our infidel asses the hell outta there. This is the land of Islam, not Dar al Harb.
MFT: Good rhetorical question. Liberal often times remind me of those Shiites that march to some holy shrine, hitting themselves with knives or spikes or something, till they are all covered in blood. Is that why the call Liberals "bleeding hearts"? At any rate, they always, but always put the blame on America, Capitalism, Bush, Western Civilization, Catholic Church, whatever -- no matter what the issue is. It's a Pavlovian reflex, utterly predictable, and kind of puerile, to boot.
JJ: Huh?
AI, Irony.
mft - no. why do you ask?
Pepe, I think MFT was going this way: In the news article we have the following paragraph: The attack came at a time of high tension between the United States and Syria over the recent Israeli-Hezbollah war in neighboring Lebanon. In Damascus, the sentiment has become increasingly anti-American.
I.e. American support for (democratic) Israel is getting the guy on the street into bed with Hezbollah.
But of course when Syria was attempting to thwart democracy in Lebanon killing Hariri, no credit went to Bush for promoting democracy in the region. Therefore Bush must be to blame for that violence too.
It is not serious, just mocking.
My take on this is different. Here's Condi thanking Assad for stopping an attack on the embassy a week after saying Syria is a terrorist (to Israel, not us) state.
Maybe the situation should be laid out more clearly.
Here is a proposal:
We thank Assad for preventing the disorder typical of Islamic fundamentalist states from affecting us in his territory. We say the concommitant oppression of his subjects breeds resentment that he and his counterparts in neighboring countries will eventually be unable to keep from being directed at us.
Therefore we will give him a boatload of money to keep his cops effective and to bribe him into admitting some democratic reform.
We cannot demonize his state because it has just saved the lives of our countrymen. But we cannot accept its continual aggression on Israel.
This is badly thought out. Help, anyone?
JJ: I caught your irony -- was referring to the predictable "blame Bush/America/etc" expected reaction to MFT's question.
As for your long follow up: I stayed with it for a while (while the arguing was tight and cogent), but then you started drifting, and I lost you. How about a haiku, next time? Keep it short and sweet, ya know?
By the way, how do you like my new pic? Can you hear what I'm saying?
Did you make it to the point where I ask for help?
Did you learn not to kick a guy when he's down?
