The other question this raises of course is, if torture is an efficient way to obtain information, why did they have to do it 183 times.

It's likely bullshit. Could be 183 pitchersfull. Who knows? 183/30 days is a lot. Guy would be dead if it's that big a deal.

Because, according to Pepe, previously, if captured, facing torture, mutilation, then decapitation, was not yet enough to want to bring along a nifty cyanide pill.
Now it is going to be torture, mutilation, a long catechism in the arts of Pepean Logic, and only then, mercifully, decapitation. Reason enough for the little blue pill of eternal bliss.
