1) Chefs are artists. Carrying a meat thermometer around is an expression of the nobility of that calling.

2) That this event take place in a neighborhood hardest hit is heartening as it shows that there is one poor, oppressed inhabitant that yearns to express himself in his toque.

3) For some reason, the powers that be try to encourage Americans to take up interest and even careers in the Sciences, but then exactly like the global warming frauds, hide the data. So what did the thermometer read and why didn't the media report on it?
