The Srebrenica massacre was horrible. But hey, the Rive-Gauche argument goes -- it was not in the environs of Versailles, so who the heck cares? That about sums up the view of the French and Dutch contingents that were supposed to defend those poor souls aggainst being butchered.

By the way, the brave and trustworthy General Morillon is now a member of the European Parliament. For his valor, he was named Grand Officer of the Légion d'honneur.

I had not known he had been so honored by his compatriots: silly of me to overestimate the French
