this guy lead is one of the worst PR disasters in memory by managing to give the Chechens a bad name. If you recall, Putin's treatment of the separatists was close to genocide, giving the Chechens formidable international support. But after Beslan and a couple of other similar stints, that all but vanished.

Hopefully the new leadership will lead a successful and peaceful secession from the russian dictatorship.
