It is as surprising that Pepe would so articulate his Nuanced and Sophisticated estimation of Fallaci as for Kofi Annan to embrace Castro with enthusiastically deep curiosity. I am sure that, before the days Oriana started taking Islamic Theorie und Praxis seriously, when she was merely a reliably stinging gadfly of all to the right of Leon Blum or Rosa Luxemburg, Pepe le Pew had an equally N&S view of her.

Well, of course, in the pinko Lefty view, anyone to the right of Enver Hoxha or Pol Pot is a bigoted Enemy of the People and deserves a bullet in the nape of the neck, courtesy of the NKVD or some such sweet agency that the Left would like to have control over again. Aahhh, the wet dreams they have in the Rive Gauche cafés...

An obit:

To further her argument, she dug out some aphorisms and advisories from the Ayatollah Khomeni that would make a cow cringe: “A man who has had sexual relations with an animal, such as a sheep, may not eat its meat. He would commit sin.”

“If a man marries a minor who has reached the age of nine and if during the defloration he immediately breaks the hymen, he cannot enjoy her any longer.”

So what's the PC answer? It's all Bush's fault!!!?? Or, yeah, right, that's the ticket!?

Not defending our territory, our homes, our children, our dignity, our essence, is against Reason. Accepting the silly or cynical lies which are dispensed to us like arsenic inside the soup is against Reason.

Bigotry! Bigotry!!!!

Here Steyn has a good article on Fallaci. I think she came across a little on the prejudiced side, but I would not call her a racist.

If I had to choose, I’d rather Mohammed Atta was down river in Egypt hitting on the livestock than flying through the window of Manhattan skyscrapers. But he’s not.

Well said.

I enjoy the don’t-eat-your-sexual-partner stuff as much as the next infidel, but the challenge presented by Islam is not that the cities of the western world will be filling up with sheep-shaggers. If I had to choose, I’d rather Mohammed Atta was down river in Egypt hitting on the livestock than flying through the window of Manhattan skyscrapers. But he’s not.
